Nomadic Matt’s Travel Tuesday

Reader,

Greetings from NYC! After a whirlwind week in Los Angeles catching up with friends, sightseeing, and seeing Taylor Swift (front row!!), I'm back in the city for a hot second.

On Thursday, I'm flying to France for five days. My friends are heading back to the Côte d'Azur (French Riviera) for a birthday party and, since I had to cut my visit short last time because I was sick, I decided to join them as a "do-over." I'm very much looking forward to some time on the beach, French food, sun, and whatever else comes my way.

I've got to cram an entire summer into August and I'm hitting the ground running this week. I have my first session with my trainer today, I finally bought new clothes for the first time since the pandemic, I'm seeing a show tomorrow, and I signed up for pickleball next week!

Ain't no time like the present, right?

That is really all that's going on. I'm just catching up on everything I couldn't do while in quarantine and finishing settling into NYC.

After that, it's back to traveling! I'm getting FOMO watching everyone in far-flung places and want to work in smaller trips into my life. That "stay at home/travel" balance is something I've always struggled with but maybe being in a city with more flight connections might help? I guess we'll see!

Reader, A few weeks ago, I came across a quote by Seneca that said "It's not that we have a short time to live but that we waste a lot of it." I can't stop thinking about it. As the month ends, I had hoped I would be further along in so many things — I'd be more in shape, eaten healthier, had sightseen more of the city, read more, or had done this or that. I'd thought I'd accomplish more. And, while I'd never call myself lazy, I'm pretty good at wasting time. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't...

Reader, Greetings from NYC! How are we already over 1/3rd of the way through September? Wasn't it just August last week? Lately, I feel like time is just flying by. Or is it just me? In two weeks I'm heading to Europe for a bit. This will be my first pure personal trip all year. A lot of my travels in the last couple of years have been work-related: tours, conferences, destination partnerships. Japan was supposed to be a fun personal trip but then I got sick so I spent most of my trip in a...
